Use of a motion detector
The small wall-mounted wireless PIR motion detector (HmIP-SMI55-2) offers flexible installation options and wide modularity of use. It can work as a motion sensor alarm (covering a range of up to 6 meters), a brightness-dependent lighting automation switch or as a manual two-button controller with a wide range of solutions from simple commands to complex smart home control scenarios by connecting to other Homematic IP products via the free Homematic IP mobile app.
Thanks to battery operation, the device can be unobtrusively placed or installed in the desired location

Alarm functions
The PIR motion detector (HmIP-SMI55-2) is activated when the sensor detects motion during active protection.
The system immediately performs the preconfigured operation and informs the user of the event via push notifications from the Homematic IP mobile app on the smartphone.
In addition, your home or building can be even safer if your security solution includes an indoor siren (HmIP-ASIR-2) or outdoor siren (HmIP-ASIR-O). In this case, if the window or door protection is breached, a loud alarm sound is automatically triggered.
Brightness sensor
Automatic lighting control when motion is detected or for greater comfort and maximum energy saving, depending on the preset brightness value and lighting conditions in the room, lighting is only activated when needed.
The brightness thresholds of the integrated sensor and the switching time can be individually and continuously set via the mobile app. If it becomes dim or completely dark, activating the device will perform a system preconfigured operation or scenario. When used to control light after motion detection, the exposure time of the luminaire can be continuously adjusted in the Homematic IP application.
Manual buttons
They provide two channels that can distinguish between long and short button presses. This makes it possible, for example, to switch lights on or off or to activate or deactivate the ECO heating mode.
The individual buttons can be customised to your individual needs via the Homematic IP mobile app. Depending on the assigned program, each button can control multiple devices and functions of the Homematic IP smart home. Each of the buttons can be independently configured to conveniently control already connected (programmed) devices.
Power supply
The 2 AAA replaceable power batteries allow for low maintenance operation and provide up to 4 years of extra long life. The user is informed by the Homematic IP application when the capacity of the power batteries is reduced to a minimum.
As an alternative to battery operation, the PIR motion detector (HmIP-SMI55-2) can also be powered directly from the 230 V mains using the 55 mm Battery Component Power Supply (HmIP-BPS-2).
Easy installation
Wireless communication and battery operation offer the possibility of easy installation without the need for wiring. This means that the wireless multifunction PIR motion detector can be variably positioned anywhere in the room and building. Fixing with mounting material (dowels, screws) or fixing with the supplied adhesive strips.
The detector can be integrated into the 55 mm Battery Component Stand (HmIP-DS55) for longer battery life.
