Use of a motion detector
The device can be used both indoors and outdoors as an alarm motion sensor in the Homematic IP smart home system or for remote light switching depending on the ambient brightness and connection with other Homematic IP products via a free mobile application.
The splash-proof IP44 design and working range at temperatures between -20 ° C and +55 ° C guarantee reliable operation of the device even in the most demanding conditions.
High performance lenses
High-performance lenses with a detection range of up to 12 m and a detection angle of 90 ° immediately detect movement in the monitored area. The 360 ° rotating design of the detector ensures accurate scanning of the required part of the room. The built-in brightness sensor ensures precise switching of the lights in both darkness and dusk.
Alarm functions
The PIR motion detector (HmIP-SMO-A-2) is activated as soon as the sensor detects movement during active protection. The system immediately performs a preconfigured operation and informs the user of the event via push notifications of the Homematic IP mobile application on the smartphone.

Brightness sensor
The brightness intensity thresholds of the integrated sensor and the lighting switching time can be set individually and continuously via the mobile application. If it becomes dim or completely dark, activating the device will perform a system preconfigured operation or scenario. When used to control light after motion detection, the exposure time of the luminaire can be continuously adjusted in the Homematic IP application.
Protection in case of sabotage
The wireless PIR motion detector includes a tamper contact that reliably detects tampering and triggers an alarm. Inter-instrument communication ensures that the alarm is triggered even without an Internet connection.
Power supply
2 pieces of replaceable AA batteries allow low-maintenance operation and ensure up to extremely long 6-year operation of the device. As soon as the capacity of the supply batteries is reduced to a minimum, the user is informed by the Homematic IP application .
