Using the position sensor
The window handle sensor (HmIP-SRH) from the Homematic IP series detects the window status by the position of the handle, whether the window is open, closed or open for ventilation. In this way, the user is always informed which windows are open, tilted or closed, even if they are outside the building. The low-profile design of the sensor allows it to be installed under an existing window handle in a few simple steps.
Once installed, the sensor detects the appropriate window handle position for both left and right opening directions.

In the heating and air conditioning control mode, it provides automatic energy saving by communicating with the Homematic IP thermostatic radiator head, immediately after opening the window, to limit or close the heat supply to the radiator body.
The degree of temperature reduction can even be defined by the user. After closing the window, the heating will be activated again until the room temperature is back to the pre-configured level. In this efficient way, the room temperature and the heating or air conditioning process can be controlled according to individual needs, resulting in immediate savings and a reduction in energy costs of up to 30%.

The wireless optical sensor includes a tamper contact that reliably detects tampering and triggers an alarm. Inter-device communication ensures that the alarm is triggered even without an internet connection.
Power supply
One AAA replaceable power battery will allow the sensor to operate effectively for up to 2 years. The user is informed by the Homematic IP application when the power battery capacity is reduced to a minimum.
