Using the occupancy sensor
The compact wireless Occupancy Sensor (HmIP-SPI) with PIR motion detector can also be used as an alarm sensor in the Homematic IP smart home system or for remote switching of lights depending on the ambient brightness value and connection to other Homematic IP products via a free mobile app.
When there are intense changes in room temperature (e.g. switching the underfloor heating), the sensor automatically adapts to the relevant conditions to avoid unwanted alarms.
High sensitivity motion sensor
The detector is designed for indoor use, it has been designed to be mounted on the ceiling of the monitored area defined by a circle (360°) below. With an installation height of 2.7 m above ground, the detector covers a circular area up to 7 m in diameter. Depending on the setup and installation, the high-sensitivity motion sensor can detect even the most subtle movements (e.g. hand movements on a keyboard) or coarse movements in a wider detection range (e.g. human walking) within a limited detection range.
Alarm functions
The occupancy sensor (HmIP-SPI) is activated as soon as it detects movement during active protection. The system immediately performs the preconfigured operation and informs the user of the event via push notifications from the Homematic IP mobile app on the smartphone.
In addition, your home or building can be even safer if your security solution includes a Siren – indoor (HmIP-ASIR-2) or Siren – outdoor (HmIP-ASIR-O). In this case, if the window or door protection is breached, a loud alarm sound is automatically triggered.
Brightness sensor
The threshold values for the brightness intensity of the integrated sensor or the time for switching the lighting can be individually and continuously set via the Homematic IP mobile app.
If it becomes dark or completely dark, the device is activated and the system performs a preconfigured operation or runs a scenario. When used for light control, the duration of illumination after motion detection can be continuously adjusted in Homematic IP.
Protection in case of sabotage
The Wireless Occupancy Sensor (HmIP-SPI) with PIR motion detector includes a tamper contact that reliably detects tampering and triggers an alarm. Inter-device communication ensures that the alarm is triggered even without an internet connection.
Power supply
The 2 AA replaceable power batteries allow for low maintenance operation and provide up to 2 years of operation. As soon as the capacity of the supply batteries is reduced to a minimum, the user is informed by the Homematic IP application .
Easy installation
Thanks to its compact size and battery operation, the detector offers easy installation without the need for wiring. The sensor comes with a bracket for fixed mounting on the ceiling or wall, which can be fixed using the supplied mounting material (dowels, screws).
