Outdoor rain sensor

Wireless Rain Sensor (HmIP-SRD)

Homematic IP represents a complete revolution in Smart Home, bringing you uncompromising German quality, comprehensive solutions and broad modularity with an extensive portfolio of devices.

The Wireless Rain Sensor (HmIP-SRD) for outdoor use is part of the Homematic IP smart home system.

The sensor with its high weather and weather protection offers a wide range of applications in conjunction with other Homematic IP devices.
The device detects even the smallest amount of rain or snowfall and then transmits the information to the Central Unit (HmIP-HAP) and the connected Homematic IP devices,
that respond according to a predefined configuration.

The supplied mounting brackets allow for different mounting positions, so the sensor is easy to mount at the recommended 45 degree angle. An external power supply is required to power the sensor.

Use

The device is primarily designed for outdoor use, but it can also be used in indoor conditions (greenhouses, conservatories, etc.). The rain and snowfall detection sensor has a large surface area of integrated sensors that are very sensitive to even the smallest amount of raindrops or snowflakes.

For reliable detection, the sensor sensitivity can be freely adjusted in the Homematic IP mobile app depending on conditions and location.

Alarm functions

Wireless communication offers the possibility of variable sensor installation almost anywhere in the
outdoor environment
where only a local cable supply is necessary via
external power supply
. In combination with other Homematic IP devices, such as the Actuators for controlling blinds, shutters or awnings, the system can be automate the smart home, setting up different types of scenarios while adapting to the current precipitation detection conditions.

The device can be a very effective complement to the Homematic IP (HmIP-SWO-x) weather sensors for monitoring and predicting the weather with a direct link to automation and individual building management.

Durability and reliability

The device has an integrated intelligent heating system that ensures rapid drying of the sensor surface while maintaining constant conditions for precipitation detection.
In this way, any functional limitations due to rapid weather changes (frost in winter, ice or dew in spring and summer) are avoided .

The IP44 splash-proof design and operating temperature range between -20 °C and +55 °C ensures reliable operation even in the most demanding conditions.

Rain and snow sensor

The threshold values of the integrated sensor for triggering the collision response can be individually and continuously adjusted via the Homematic IP mobile app. If it starts to rain or snow, the device is activated and the system automatically executes the preconfigured operation or scenario.
Information that it’s starting to rain is immediately displayed on your smartphone screen and you can close the skylights or hide drying laundry thanks to alerts from your Homematic IP mobile app.

System operation

The wireless connection of the Rain Sensor (HmIP-SRD) to the Central Unit (HmIP-HAP) offers convenient setup and control of the comprehensive Homematic IP smart home system using only an intuitive app (for Android and iOS in CZ) designed for smartphones. The mobile app allows you to respond instantly to messages and alerts from your system smart homes and connects all Homematic IP devices via a free, unlimited cloud, which allows you to set up and manage the system from anywhere in the world, transfer important information and update the device software and firmware, and pass configuration and operational commands from the application Homematic IP towards individual smart home devices.

Power supply

The rain sensor (HmIP-SRD) is powered by a separate external AC or DC power supply (not included).

Easy installation

Thanks to its compact size and wireless communication, the sensor offers the possibility of easy installation with only the necessary power supply cable connection. Included in the package are mounting materials (dowels, screws, ties). Alternatively, the device can also be installed on a wall or column.

Wide range of uses

Ideal for versatile use in homes, recreational facilities, businesses, medical facilities, hotels, etc.
