The Wireless Brightness Sensor (HmIP-SLO) for outdoor use is part of the Homematic IP smart home system.
The weatherproof light sensor offers a wide range of applications in conjunction with other Homematic IP devices. The device measures the luminance values in lux and then transmits the measured values to the Central Unit (HmIP-HAP) and the connected Homematic IP devices, which react according to a predefined configuration.
Using the brightness sensor
The device can be used both indoors and outdoors as a light brightness sensor with modular usage options depending on brightness values and interfacing with other Homematic IP products via the free Homematic IP mobile app.
Design with IP43 protection
Wireless communication and battery operation offer the possibility of variable sensor installation almost anywhere in the outdoor environment. Combined with other Homematic IP devices, such as actuators for controlling blinds, shutters or awnings, the smart home system can be automated, setting up different types of scenarios while adapting to the current lighting conditions.
The IP43 rainproof design and operating temperature range between -20 °C and +55 °C ensures reliable operation even in the harshest conditions.
Brightness sensor
The threshold values for brightness intensity or time, for switching the lighting of the integrated sensor, can be individually and continuously set via the Homematic IP mobile app.
If it becomes dark or completely dark, the device is activated and the system executes the preconfigured operation or scenario. For example, you can switch on the outdoor lighting at dusk and lower the outdoor blinds at the same time, or automatically extend the awning in strong sunlight.
Power supply
The 2 AA replaceable power supply batteries allow low maintenance operation and ensure a relatively long service life of up to 3 years. The user is informed by the Homematic IP application when the capacity of the power batteries is reduced to a minimum.
Easy installation
Thanks to its compact size and battery operation, the Brightness Sensor (HmIP-SLO) offers easy installation without the need for wiring. Of course, mounting material (dowels, screws) is also included in the package.
